China

Christianity continues to grow rapidly. Sources report that government representatives have been in dialogue with some house church leaders, leading many to believe the government has finally understood the house church is not a political threat to the state. Yet severe repression continues for some. In April, the Shouwang church in Beijing was barred from meeting in its new premises and one of its pastors was put under house arrest. In July a pastor was sentenced to two years in a labor camp for organizing ‘illegal meetings’.

Pray:

  • For wisdom for church leaders who are in dialogue with the government
  • For more trained leaders to shepherd the growing church
  • For Open Doors staff training Christian nationals to develop indigenous Christian materials.
