As one of the most Western-orientated countries in the Middle East, traditional Christians experience some religious freedom. However, leaving Islam is prohibited and Muslims who become Christians often face legal discrimination, abuse from family and community, and difficulty getting and keeping jobs. Despite this, more Muslims are coming to Christ. The evangelical church doubled in size from 1995 to 2010. As a result, the authorities are increasingly monitoring churches. Large numbers of Iraqi Christians have entered Jordan, as well as many Muslim refugees from Iraq and Syria. This puts increasing pressure on Christians, especially MBBs.
Pray:
- Protests for political reform have been limited. Pray for a just and stable government in this nation.
- That government restrictions on church groups and activities would be relaxed.
- For those working to support the many refugees in the country.
